Welcome to Dark Knight LLC, d/b/a Ridgeland Outdoors. We are a small business based in League City, Texas, and we know that the cost of college adds up quickly. We started this scholarship because we believe students who work hard, take on difficult coursework, and show initiative deserve support as they head to college.

Each year, we will award a scholarship to one Clear Creek ISD senior. This is our inaugural year, and the award is $250. Every application is scored against a published rubric, and identifying information is removed before review.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  1. Be a senior enrolled in a Clear Creek ISD high school, on track to graduate in Spring 2027, and planning to enroll full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school in the United States for the Fall 2027 term.
  2. Have taken the SAT or ACT.
  3. Not be a member, officer, or employee of Dark Knight LLC, or an immediate family member of any such person.
This is a merit-based award. Financial need and family income are not considered.

How Applications Are Scored

Category Points What we look at
Academics: Coursework 30 Every grade, weighted by course rigor (AP and dual credit highest)
Academics: SAT or ACT 10 Math and English section scores
Essay 20 A problem you noticed and solved (300 words)
Interest in Business 20 Your business goals and what you have done about them (200 words)
Involvement 20 Up to five activities, scored on what you actually accomplished
Total 100
Grades are not everything. Coursework is 30 of 100 points. The other 70 come from your test scores, your essay, your business interest, and what you have accomplished outside the classroom. A strong essay and real involvement can carry an application, so apply even if your grades are not perfect.

Every category is scored with fixed formulas and written descriptors, published in full before applications open. Read the full rubric before you apply.

Award Terms

  • One award of $250, paid directly to the recipient's college upon proof of full-time enrollment for the Fall 2027 term.
  • The recipient will be announced on March 31, 2027.
  • Before payment, the recipient must provide an official transcript and official SAT or ACT score report. Any discrepancy that would change the result forfeits the award.
  • The award is not transferable and has no cash value.
  • Ties are broken by the higher Essay score, then by the higher Interest in Business score. Any remaining tie is decided by a side-by-side, anonymized reading of the tied essays.

Blind Review

Your name and school are collected only in Section 1 of the application and are removed before scoring. Do not include your name or school in your essay, business statement, or activity descriptions. Applications that do may be disqualified.
